Scholarship application rules may vary across institutions and NGO’s, but you’ll likely need to consider the following when applying:
- Provisional admission into a course of study at a Canadian university for undergraduate, postgraduate or doctorial level

The Canadian government offers scholarships and fellowships to international students undertaking postgraduate study within the natural, social sciences and health research areas.
The Canadian government offers scholarships to students from developing countries to study in a masters or doctoral level research degree at an accredited Canadian university.
This is overseen by the Fonds québécois de la recherche sur la nature et les technologies. This Quebec government scholarship program offers awards for doctoral studies, a postdoctoral fellowship, and short-term research or professional development.
This Canadian government scholarship offers grants to doctoral students internationally, to study at a participating Canadian university. This Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship is worth $50,000 per year for three years.
Each year, the Trudeau Foundation offers a range of scholarships, fellowships and mentorships to international students at doctoral level undertaking study at selected institutions. It rewards up to 15 outstanding doctoral candidates who are enrolled or about to be enrolled in a social sciences and humanities program. The annual value is up to $60,000 per scholar for up to four years.
This is another Canadian government scholarship funded by the NSERC, it is available to outstanding students undertaking study in the natural sciences or engineering at an accredited Canadian university.
